When carrying out restoration and conservation works, choosing the correct materials is vitally important to the success of the building. Many owners embark on renovations without truly appreciating the nature of the building in question. There is a fine balance between getting it right and getting it wrong.

It is important to use lime for the repair of solid wall constructions; modern materials are too strong, not permeable enough and can damage the building fabric. Roundtower supply a full range of lime binders as well as premixed lime mortars for use in solid wall constructions.

Many solid wall constructions suffer from poor thermal performance. Insulation products such as Roundtower Insulating Plaster and Steico Wood Fibre boards can be used to increase thermal performance whilst still allowing breathability, which is critical in solid wall constructions.
