Main Purpose

A fire-retardant, UV resistant breather membrane that has a Euro Fire classification of B-s1, d0 to comply with the Part B Building Regulations Section 7(2) in England and Wales and the revised Scotland Section 2 Building Regulations for using membranes in tall buildings. Also has a plain black appearance for use with open jointed cladding (looks entirely black through the gaps) and an integrated self-adhesive tape for quicker and easier installation without needing any additional tape for the overlaps.

Coverage

Pro Clima Solitex Fronta Quattro FB is a plain-black fire-retardant breathable membrane with a Euro Fire Classification of B-s1,d0.  This means it meets the requirements set out in the new England and Wales Part B Section 7(2) Building Regulations and the Scotland Section 2 Building Regulations for the use of membranes in tall buildings.  With no printing on its surface, and excellent UV resistant, Solitex Fronta Quattro FB Connect can be used behind open jointed cladding systems with gaps of up to 30mm as well as behind closed jointed cladding.  The plain black appearance looks great when seen through the gaps in open jointed cladding.  A further feature is that the product has its own integrated tape system for ease of sealing the overlaps without the need for additional tape.

Solitex Fronta Quattro FB Connect windtight breather membrane is intended for use externally on walls of tall or low-rise buildings where compliance with the new Building Regulations of England and Wales Part B Section 7(2) and the new Scotland Section 2 Building Regulations is required.

Solitex Plus Fronta Quattro FB Connect can also be used behind closed or open jointed cladding systems with gaps of up to 30mm where each piece of cladding is at least 3 times wider than the gap.

Solitex Fronta Quattro FB Connect is fire retardant and has achieved a Euro Fire Classification of B-s1,d0 .  This means it doesn’t emit any flaming droplets when exposed to fire and meets the latest UK and Ireland building regulations for breather membranes on the exterior of tall and low-rise buildings.

Solitex Fronta Quattro FB Connect provides excellent protection against wind driven rain and allows moisture vapour to escape from the internal fabric of the building to the outside.  This protects the internal structure from any interstitial condensation.

During construction, Solitex Fronta Quattro FB Connect can be used as a temporary weather-proof covering for up to 2 months before cladding is installed.  The product is also plain black in colour so no writing can be seen behind open jointed cladding.

Solitex Fronta Quattro FB Connect has many performance benefits such as compliance with England and Wales Part B Building Regulations and Scotland Building Regulations Section 7(2).  It is also fully windtight and offers excellent UV resistance.  It is very easy to install thanks to its integrated self-adhesive tape system that ensures no additional airtight tape is required for sealing overlaps; this reduces costs and saves time during installation.

The self-adhesive strips on Solitex Fronta Quattro FB Connect are sandwiched between two layers of fire-retardant membrane once installed. Having the sealing system covered up like this, may provide a benefit over externally taped overlaps where the tape is on the outside of the fire-retardant membrane and potentially more exposed in the event of fire.

As Solitex Fronta Quattro FB Connect is a non-porous monolithic membrane, with no microscopic holes required to provide the breathability, moisture vapour passes through it via diffusion. This ensures it is fully windtight, breathable and the insulation behind achieves the highest level of performance.  It also ensures the building has excellent ageing resistance and thermal stability.

Pro Clima provide a limited system warranty, backed-up with public liability insurance, for all airtightness system, roof and wall sealing system and construction products that they supply. A 10-year warranty is provided for these products when correctly installed in combination with approved thermal insulation materials and other Pro Clima system products. When correctly installed in combination with other manufacturers’ products (not made by Pro Clima), a 6-year warranty is provided.

Complies with the fire regulations in the UK and Ireland including the new England and Wales Part B   Building Regulations  Section 7(2) and the new Scotland Section 2 for membranes in tall buildings

Fire classification: B-s1, d0 (EN 13501-1)

Temperature Resistance: -40 °C to 80 °C

Thermal conductivity: 2.3 W/mK

sd-value: 0.08 m

CE labelling: BS EN 13859-2

Solitex Fronta Quattro FB Connect should be installed with its plain black surface facing outwards (towards the environment).  This is the UV stable weatherproof side.  Ensure the membrane surface is clean and free of dust, debris and grease

If open jointed cladding will be installed over the top, each piece of cladding must be at least three times wider than the gap; the maximum gap width is 30mm.  A ventilation space between the membrane and the cladding must be at least 20mm.

When installed on walls horizontally, lengths of membrane higher up the wall should overlap on top of membrane installed lower down, and then be sealed. This can be achieved by applying the first length of membrane at the bottom of the wall and then working upwards. This prevents water run-off getting behind the membrane (under the overlap) and is an additional level of protection against rainwater penetration.

Roll out the first length of membrane horizontally and fix taught to the structure with (minimum) 10mm wide and 8mm long galvanised staples.  Fix the membrane every 100-150mm.

After laying the second row of membrane overlapping the first layer, the self-adhesive release strips should be lined up along the horizontal edge.  You may use the printed guide on the edge of the membrane to assist with alignment.  Then secure the second length of membrane with staples.   Carefully remove the release strips.  Avoid forming creases and wrinkles as you go and press down firmly on the adhesive with a Pressfix tool to ensure the strongest permanent windtight seal is achieved.

The use of black Pro Clima Tescon Invis Airtight tape is recommended for taping any areas (other than overlaps that are sealed with the built-in self-adhesive strips) that can be seen through gaps in open jointed cladding. Tescon Invis is entirely black so blends in perfectly with the plain black surface of Solitex Fronta FB Connect.

For sealing onto rough surfaces or concrete use Orcon F Airtight Adhesive. To seal to a window or door frame use Tescon Profil Airtight Window Tape or Tescon Invis Airtight Tape.
