STEICO Universal Dry
STEICO Universal Dry is a rigid wood fibre insulation board designed for use as a sarking board, external sheathing board, and render carrier within breathable wall and roof constructions. Manufactured from natural wood fibres, it combines thermal insulation, wind protection, rain protection, and a stable substrate for rendered façade systems within a single vapour-open board.
With its high density and robust construction, STEICO Universal Dry is suitable for timber frame walls, roof applications, and external insulation systems where thermal performance, weather protection, and vapour permeability are required.

Key Benefits
Four Functions in One Board
STEICO Universal Dry combines:
- Thermal insulation
- Rain protection
- Wind protection
- Render carrier functionality
within a single board system.
Vapour Open Construction
The diffusion-open structure allows moisture vapour to pass through the building envelope, supporting breathable wall and roof assemblies.
Suitable for Rendered Façades
Can be used as a render carrier board within compatible STEICO external wall insulation systems.
Robust High-Density Board
The high raw density provides a durable and stable substrate for roof and wall applications.
Weather Resistant
Provides temporary weather protection during construction when installed in accordance with STEICO guidance.
Summer Heat Protection
The wood fibre structure and high specific heat capacity help reduce heat transfer through the building envelope during warmer periods.
Sustainable & Renewable
Manufactured from wood sourced from PEFC-certified forests and produced using renewable raw materials.

Why Use STEICO Universal Dry?
STEICO Universal Dry combines multiple functions within a single board, helping simplify wall and roof build-ups while maintaining vapour permeability and thermal performance.
Unlike conventional sheathing boards, it provides insulation, wind protection, and weather resistance while also serving as a substrate for rendered façade systems. This makes it particularly suitable for breathable timber frame construction and external insulation applications where a robust, multifunctional board is required.
Installation Overview
1. Preparation
Ensure the supporting structure is level, dry, and suitable for installation.
2. Board Installation
Install boards tightly in accordance with STEICO installation guidance and system requirements.
3. Joint & Weatherproofing Details
Complete all junctions, penetrations, and detailing using compatible tapes, membranes, and accessories where required.
4. Reinforcement & Basecoat
Where used within a rendered façade system, apply the specified reinforcement and basecoat system.
5. Final Finish
Complete the build-up with the specified render system, roof covering, or external finish.
