The SkamoWall Calcium Silicate Board is a high-performance, breathable internal wall insulation board engineered to combat mould, condensation, and cold bridging in existing buildings. Made from natural calcium silicate, this capillary-active board absorbs moisture from the air or wall surface and gradually releases it as vapour, helping to prevent damp, mould growth, and unhealthy indoor environments.
Ideal for retrofit projects, conservation work, and energy-efficient renovations, SkamoWall boards offer a durable, non-toxic solution that improves thermal comfort, regulates humidity, and maintains breathability—all while preserving the integrity of the existing structure.
Key Benefits:
✅ Eliminates Condensation & Mould – Absorbs moisture, regulates humidity, and keeps walls dry.
✅ Highly Breathable & Capillary Active – Actively draws moisture from the wall and allows it to evaporate safely.
✅ Improves Thermal Comfort – Provides effective internal insulation while reducing cold spots and surface condensation.
✅ Quick & Easy to Install – Lightweight, easy to cut, and can be fixed with mineral adhesives and mechanical fixings.
✅ Non-Combustible & Fire Safe – A1 fire-rated for maximum safety in all building types.
✅ Sustainable & Natural – Made from mineral-based materials, free from toxins, fibres, and VOCs.
✅ Compatible with Breathable Finishes – Designed to work with SkamoWall Primer, SkamoWall Smooth Plaster, and mineral or silicate paints.
Applications:
🔹 Internal Wall Insulation in Damp or Mould-Prone Areas – Ideal for upgrading cold external walls, especially in older or poorly insulated buildings.
🔹 Basements, Bathrooms, Kitchens & Cold Rooms – Areas with frequent condensation benefit from improved thermal and moisture control.
🔹 Retrofit & Renovation Projects – Particularly suitable for historic and solid wall buildings, where breathable insulation is essential.
🔹 Conservation & Heritage Projects – Allows walls to "breathe" without trapping moisture or damaging existing fabric.

Why Choose SkamoWall Calcium Silicate Boards?
SkamoWall Boards are the ultimate solution for internal insulation in buildings affected by condensation, damp, or mould. Their capillary-active, breathable performance helps stabilise indoor humidity, improve thermal comfort, and prevent the reoccurrence of mould—all without sealing the building envelope. Trusted by professionals across Ireland and Europe, SkamoWall is ideal for sustainable retrofits, heritage renovations, and moisture-sensitive properties.
Application:
1. Surface Preparation
-
Remove all loose plaster, bitumen/tar, paint residues, and organic material.
-
In case of mould, clean the masonry thoroughly with a suitable biocide treatment.
-
Level the wall with Skamol Lime Mortar adhesive. Ensure any unevenness does not exceed 10mm before board installation.
2. Board Preparation
-
Use standard tools (e.g. hand saw, jigsaw, or utility knife) to cut and shape SkamoWall Boards as needed for electrical outlets, pipework, or other services.
3. Board Installation
-
Apply Skamol Primer to the inward-facing side (wall-contact side) of the board.
-
Spread Skamol Lime Mortar adhesive onto both the wall and the SkamoWall Board using a notched trowel.
-
Press the boards firmly onto the wall, ensuring tight joints between boards.
-
Continue this process until the entire surface is covered.
4. Surface Priming & Plastering
-
Apply Skamol Primer to the outward-facing surface (plasterable side) of the boards.
-
Choose your finishing option:
-
Skamol Lime Mortar – for a robust, traditional finish
-
Skamol Smooth Plaster – for a fine, smooth interior finish
-
-
Use the selected plaster to fill all joints between boards.
5. Optional Reinforcement (If Needed)
-
For enhanced protection, especially in vulnerable areas:
-
Use Skamol Corner profiles for clean edges and protection at external corners.
-
Apply Skamol Mesh for added durability over high-traffic areas.
-
6. Final Finish
-
Once fully cured and dry, the wall can be painted using a breathable mineral paint or limewash, depending on your desired interior finish.
