Fast-setting natural cement / NHL mortar for marine masonry in splash, tidal and submerged zones.
Natural buff-tan finish. Supplied in 25 kg polythene-lined, batch-coded paper bags (palletised).
What it is
-
Dry, ready-mixed blend of Prompt Natural Cement, NHL 5, selected natural sands and minor additives for workability.
-
Delivers an NHL5-grade strength with an accelerated fast set to resist tidal washout.
-
Higher strength than LP6 while retaining compatibility with most historic masonry when detailed and cured correctly.
-
No Portland cement and no synthetic polymers.
Performance at a glance
-
Working/open time: ~72 minutes at 17 °C (ambient and substrate suction dependent).
-
Set behaviour: Rapid initial grab for exposed and submerged work; strength develops with proper curing.
-
Breathability & compatibility: More sympathetic than rigid PC-rich mixes; choose LP8 when you need NHL5 strength + fast set.
Choose LP8 for tidal/splash and submerged repairs needing NHL5 strength and quick set.
Choose LP6 for a lower-strength fast-set in similar exposures.
Choose L4 for above-water, cement-free, slower-setting work prioritising maximum vapour permeability.
Typical uses
-
Quay and harbour walls, bridge abutments, revetments, coping stones, lock chambers and culverts in freshwater or saltwater.
-
High-exposure bedding and pointing where washout risk is significant.
Coverage & yield
-
25 kg → Approx14.5 L fresh mortar.
-
Approx. 1.5 m² of joint at 10 mm depth (actual yield varies with joint width/depth and substrate texture).
-
On-site trials recommended to confirm consumption.
Application essentials
-
Prep: Rake out to sound arrises; remove salts/bio-growth. Pre-dampen.
-
Mix: Add clean water gradually to a cohesive, plastic consistency; avoid over-watering.
-
Place/Finish: Compact fully; finish once the mortar begins to firm.
-
Curing & protection: Protect from rain, sun, drying winds and active washout through initial set; continue gentle curing thereafter.
-
Temperature window: +5 °C to +30 °C (consider wind-chill/radiant heat). Avoid if freezing is forecast during early cure.
Colour & batching
-
Natural, pigment-free buff-tan; final tone varies with curing and exposure. Custom colours not available.
-
For colour-critical projects, seek curing guidance and order sufficient material from a single batch
