Naturheld 140 Wood Fibre Insulation Boards are rigid, high-performance panels made from renewable wood fibres. They deliver exceptional thermal insulation, acoustic comfort, and moisture management, making them suitable for both heritage retrofits and modern energy-efficient construction.
These CE-marked insulation boards are fully breathable and ecological, ensuring healthier and more durable building envelopes that protect the structure for decades.
Versatile Applications
-
Wall Insulation – Suitable for both internal and external use, either as a render/plaster carrier board or as part of an external insulation system finished with cladding or brickwork. Effective for solid and cavity masonry and timber frame structures.
-
Roof Insulation (Sarking) – Installed as sarking boards above rafters, Naturheld 140 improves roof insulation, reduces thermal bridging, and enhances both thermal mass and acoustic performance.
Roof Insulation Panels – Naturheld 140 in Practice
Naturheld rigid insulation boards can be installed directly above rafters, while Naturheld Flex flexible insulation can be fitted between rafters to achieve the desired U-values and minimise thermal bridging through junctions. Together, these systems create a highly efficient, breathable roof build-up.
Naturheld boards also improve airborne and impact sound insulation, contributing to a quieter, more comfortable indoor environment. Importantly, Naturheld 140/180/220 sarking boards can be left exposed on roofs for up to 4 weeks (when square-cut edges are primed and taped) without compromising the insulation performance — ensuring a dry building fabric so construction can continue without delay.
Typical Pitched Roof Build-Up (top to bottom):
-
Tiles or slates
-
Horizontal tile battens
-
Vertical counter-battens (min. 38mm x 50mm) for ventilation
-
22–200mm Naturheld 140/180/220 T&G wood fibre board, screwed to rafters
-
Naturheld Flex fully filled between rafters
-
Optional internal finishes:
-
Naturheld 140/180/220 boards fixed to underside of rafters, plastered directly with Roundtower Board Render
-
Or OSB/Pro Clima Intello for airtightness, service battens, then plasterboard or CE Wood Wool boards
-
Key Performance Benefits
-
Moisture Regulation – Vapour-open structure allows safe movement of water vapour, reducing risk of condensation, mould, or timber decay.
-
Thermal Efficiency & Thermal Mass – Low λ-value and high density ensure excellent insulation while stabilising internal temperatures year-round.
-
Superior Acoustic Insulation – Dense fibrous structure reduces external noise such as traffic, aircraft, and rainfall.
-
Eco-Friendly & Durable – Manufactured from natural, renewable wood fibres; fully breathable and designed for long-term protection.
-
Construction Flexibility – Can be used for walls, roofs, and retrofits, and directly plastered or rendered.
Handling & Storage
-
Cut with standard timber tools (circular saw, jigsaw; dust extraction recommended).
-
Repair gaps with wood fibre offcuts and a mesh patch at least 200mm larger than the area.
-
Store dry, protect edges, and stack no more than three pallets high.
