Pro Clima Tescon Vana is a robust airtight tape for creating airtight seals that last 100 years, on airtight membranes and windtight breather membranes. Tescon Vana is perfect for sealing overlaps, edges and penetrations as well as connections to most surfaces commonly found on a building site (a primer may be required). It is waterproof and can be left exposed to UV and weathering for up to 6 months before construction of the external finish on the building is completed.
Where to use it
Tescon Vana airtight tape will permanently stick to any Pro Clima internal or external membrane and other membranes made from PE, PA, PP, PET and aluminium. It will also permanently bond to planed or painted timber, OSB, plywood, MDF, hard plastics and metal.
To ensure good adhesion on wood fibre insulation boards (e.g. Steico), concrete, plaster or smooth masonry, Tescon Primer RP or Tescon Sprimer should be used first to stabilise the surface. On surfaces that are painted or may come away, detach or delaminate, we recommend doing an adhesion test first.
What it does
Tescon Vana is a robust airtight adhesive tape for creating permanent airtight seals on membranes and airtight accessories.
The 60mm width is ideal for sealing overlaps and connections with the recommended 25-30mm of tape on each surface.
150mm width is perfect for sealing valleys, eaves and ridges on roofs with external wood fibre insulation; 75mm on each surface provides the optimum strength and durability at these critical junctions. It is also useful for sealing up the holes through which fibrous insulation was blown into walls and roofs. 150mm is also handy for creating patches to repair accidental punctures or tears in membranes that can occur during construction.
Pro Clima membranes include a printed guide along the edge to easily line up the correct amount of tape.
How it works
Tescon Vana uses fully waterproof solid acrylic glue that is unaffected by changes in temperature and humidity. It has high adhesion and excellent cohesion which means the glue holds together, won’t slip and can provide the longest lasting seal possible. Lower quality tapes use dispersion glue which reacts with moisture to cause the adhesive to break down relatively quickly (within a few months). Tescon Vana, with its solid acrylic glue, actually gets stronger over time and is perfect for building projects in wet climates and extreme weather conditions like those in the UK and Ireland.
