In-situ Running Render Casting Blend

In-situ Running Render Casting Blend is a binder-rich, rapid-setting restoration mortar engineered for the reproduction and repair of decorative architectural features. Based on the traditional Roman Cement materials widely used throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries, it combines Natural Cement, graded coarse sands, mineral pigments, and heavy fibre reinforcement to deliver crisp detail, low shrinkage, and excellent edge stability. It is specifically formulated for the bench casting and repair of external decorative elements such as cornices, mouldings, brackets, modillions, and other façade enrichments.

  • Cornices
  • Mouldings
  • Modillions
  • Brackets
  • Consoles
  • Decorative façade enrichments

using traditional casting techniques.

Rapid Setting

The Natural Cement binder develops strength quickly, allowing cast elements to be carefully demoulded in approximately 30 minutes.

Low Shrinkage

Designed to maintain dimensional stability and minimise distortion during curing, helping preserve fine architectural details.

Heavy Fibre Reinforcement

Reinforcing fibres improve edge stability and help reduce cracking and damage to delicate cast elements.

Roman Cement Heritage

Based on the traditional Roman Cement materials historically used throughout Britain and Europe for classical façade decoration.

Typical Applications

  • Casting decorative cornices
  • Casting brackets and consoles
  • Reproduction of mouldings
  • Restoration of Roman Cement façades
  • Repair of architectural ornamentation
  • Heritage restoration projects
  • Bench casting of external decorative elements

Why Use In-situ Running Render Casting Blend?

Decorative architectural features require a material capable of reproducing fine detail while developing strength quickly enough for efficient production and installation.

The Casting Blend combines:

  • Rapid setting,
  • Low shrinkage,
  • Heavy fibre reinforcement,
  • And Natural Cement technology

to produce durable cast elements with excellent detail reproduction and dimensional stability. It is particularly suited to traditional restoration projects where compatibility with historic Roman Cement details is required.

Installation Overview

1. Mould Preparation

Best suited to silicone rubber moulds, although latex and polyurethane moulds may also be used. Suitable release agents should be applied before casting.

2. Mixing

Mix thoroughly with clean water to achieve a workable consistency.

3. Casting

Place into prepared moulds and compact sufficiently to capture fine detail.

4. Demoulding

Castings can typically be carefully demoulded after approximately 30 minutes depending on environmental conditions.

5. Storage

Store dry and protected from moisture. Use within the manufacturer's recommended shelf life.

Important: Due to the rapid setting characteristics of the Natural Cement binder, the manufacturer recommends using the product in conjunction with Tempo retarder to provide a more manageable working time.
