Roundtower Limecrete Flooring System (In-Person / Online CPD)

Ideal For

  • Architects & Consultants

  • Builders & Contractors

  • Professionals involved in Restoration, Rebuilds, and New Builds

  • Students of Architecture, Engineering & Construction

Course Overview

This training session will focus on the design and application of Roundtower Limecrete Flooring Systems using Glapor Foam Glass Insulation as the base layer. Roundtower is the Irish distributor for Glapor, a high-performance insulation material made from 100% recycled glass.

Glapor foam glass combines the physical strength of glass with the insulating qualities of a closed-cell structure, making it:

  • Vapour-tight yet sustainable

  • Lightweight and easy to install

  • Highly durable with strong compressive strength

  • Naturally fire resistant

  • Rodent-proof and long-lasting

Limecrete Floors in Old Buildings

Traditional solid floors in historic buildings were typically breathable, allowing ground moisture to evaporate harmlessly. When replaced with modern concrete slabs and damp-proof membranes, problems often arise—trapped moisture, rising damp, and decay of adjacent walls and timbers.

Limecrete flooring, when paired with Glapor foam glass, offers a breathable, flexible, and sustainable alternative. Benefits include:

  • Moisture management – allowing vapour to pass through rather than trapping it.

  • Thermal insulation – significantly reducing heat loss from the floor.

  • Compatibility – designed to work with solid wall construction without introducing damp risks.

  • Strength & durability – suitable for modern living while respecting the performance of traditional structures.

  • Sustainability – using lime and recycled glass to reduce environmental impact.

This makes limecrete floors particularly well-suited for restoration projects, as well as new builds where breathability and sustainability are priorities.
